Anne of Green Gables meant so much to me as a child. My grandmother sent me the book after visiting Prince Edward Island and I grew up watching the movie.
Today I learned that Jonathan Crombie, the actor who played Gilbert Blythe, died of a brain hemorrhage on April 15.
He was only 48 years old and just as kind and wonderful in real life as the character he played on screen.
A lot of little girls fell in love with Gilbert and a lot of grown women now have broken hearts.
I am one of them.
